I imagine you want this sorted out pretty quickly? Part V
Good Morning,
The request to backdate Luke’s graduation to Spring 2006 has been approved and his degree posted. We will order his diploma this Friday, and the printer should have it to us by the end of the month. We will mail it to Luke at his permanent address on file with the University.
This sounds like good news, but considering what has happened the past month or so, the screw-ups, the broken promises, the “lost paperwork”..I won’t believe any of this until I see it myself in paper. So I went out and ordered an official transcript ($6 bucks, too) to see my depressing GPA and my crappy failed courses and such in wonderful classes such as “Intro to Music Theory” (the professor: “if you don’t get at least a C in this class, i’m failing you with a 0.0″) and “Intro to Philosophy” (which, when I told a friend of my brother’s, someone who majored in Philosophy, who I had for that class, she responded with “Oh god, that’s about the worst person to introduce you to philosophy. I don’t blame you if you’re not going to give it another chance with a second class.”
But undergraduate horrors aside (and believe me, I could go on and on with this), wouldn’t you believe it but on my DARS, my degree audit reporting page, it STILL says i’ve yet to complete a certain class required for my major. It did, however, finally remove the ONE Natural World credit I had waived so I guess I got half of it taken care of. If this “didn’t complete AES 496″ shows up on my transcript…god, I don’t know, i’m going to hopelessly write Mark Emmert or something because this whole process is ridiculous and AES specifically will continue to become the butt of academic jokes at the UW.
I should write something for The Daily after this is all finally over titled, “I Just Want To Graduate: How my own goddamn major fucked me over and how it took a month+ to clear it up.”
