I don't think I watched more than 1 full minute of it because it reminded me of this one movie I saw when I was a kid which I still maintain is the scariest thing i've ever seen...and I pretty much just turned off the DVD player right there :/ i might have to add it in the queue again... It's a movie by the Australian director Fred Schepisi, who is a huge presence in our film history. As a portrayal of institutionalised boys, it would have had a lot of interest to you in the sense of gender roles, maleness and so on.
